Tried to write this message last night but after the 3 1/2 drive there and then back I didn't get home till 230am, just woke up and getting ready to drive to SC for the show today. Really great show last night in Charlotte. They played a lot of new stuff which was really great. Only one "new" new song called Everything. Was hard to really get into at the show since it was new and I didn't know it, but it sounded cool. I have listened to it a few times since its pretty catchy. Usually takes me a few listens to get into a song and I am starting to really like this one. Really great to have Jon back. The guys seems to really enjoy being up there together again. They only played for a little over an hour, was hoping for 90 minutes and a few more songs but still a good set nonetheless. Today is supposed to be from 615-745 so hopefully a few more songs. Last night they came on at about 930ish and played till about 1045 with a one song encore. Pretty decent crowd that seemed to be into it. Didn't really look back much and was front and center so hard to tell.
Set list is as follows:
On the Roof Again
Promise
Open Road Song
Victoria
Think Twice
Amphetamines
Lost & Found
Bad News
Here's to the Night
Underachiever
Anytime
Everything
Best Friend's Girlfriend
Inside Out
Tongue Tied

The local crew on the stage tossed the setlists but Jon was nice enough to save one of them for me. Jon was also nice enough to sign all 3 of my vinyls so all 3 are now singed but all 3 members! Jon actually didn't even know there was an Open Road Song vinyl. This vinyl is so damn elusive, no one has ever been able to find it anywhere.
Stayed after and talked to all of the guys for a while. A couple things of note, Tony said this Tuesday really is the day and they really wanted to tell everyone right now. The new song is called "Everything" and last night was the first live show they have played it at. Asked Max about All These Things as I always do, I think Im slowly convincing him to give it another chance or at least work on it, but we'll see. I think I need to emphasize slowly in that last sentence, he did say don't hold you breath. As far as the Sugi Tap songs, them not playing them live seems like just be a matter of not enough time to play them and the lack of fans that know them. As much as it sucks to hear this it makes sense. They obviously have to play Inside Out, ORS, Promise, Think Twice, Here's to the Night, Anytime and 2 or 3 other well knows tunes,(Leech, Tongue Tied, etc) and thats half the set. Add in 6 or 7 new songs and your done. So it's tough to add in rare songs. Max said it would possibly happen if they were playing a club show that Eve 6 was headlining, I'd imagine there will be many headlining shows in the near future so I have hope that they will play some rarer tunes at some point. As it is Max was concerned that they had played to much new stuff but all the new stuff is awesome!
So to continue this insanely long review....Can of Worms is now called Best Friend's Girlfriend. Its the same riff as the acoustic BOLD version. However it has been updated, new lines, updated chorus, more rockin, and still a damn good song. Really glad that Max decided to keep some of the BOLD tunes. There will also most likely be one more BOLD song on the new record and its another one that I always hoped would return at some point. There was a really long line of people to take pictures, get autographs, etc. I was really happy to see that many people stick around to talk the band and support them. If I had to guess at least 75 people were in line at the merch table to meet them, etc. All in all it was a really good show and hopefully today will be even better.
Im sure you are all wondering.....yes I did film the entire show, and of course I got all the audio too. It was filmed on a new camera, filmed in 1080 hd but Im not thrilled with the quality, don't think it was the camera, but the lighting really sucked and messed with the quality of the videos I think, still better than most of what is out there but not as good as my videos usually come out. Hopefully they will be a little brighter today. I did record the audio separatly and that came out really f'n awesome! Its not from the soundboard but it sounds like it, it was recorded in 24bit stereo if you know anything about audio, and it sounds like it. I will do my best to get stuff up as quick as I can but I have to edit the audio and video separatly and then will sync them up as well which will take sometime but the quality should be worth the wait. I'll see what I can to at least post a few clips in the mean time if you want to hear something specific. I will also post the lyrics for the new song Everything. I will be listening to last nights show on the way to todays show and I expect many of you will be blasting the hell out of this once you hear it. Gotta run so now to get to tonights show. Hope you enjoy this review. Will post info about tonights show when I get home more than likely. Sorry for any typos, etc I'll edit this later if I need to but had to type quick and knew everyone was curious about tonights show.
